Inspired by dozens of timeless literary classics, A Thousand Tales is a new contemporary ballet production that crafts together a sensational tale featuring beloved characters like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Aladdin, Puss in Boots, D’Artagnan and many more, all set to the enchanting music of celebrated composer Alexey Shor. Featuring the talents of some of the most acclaimed dancers and choreographers in Europe, along with stunning set designs and luxuriously crafted costumes, A Thousand Tales is guaranteed to be an experience like no other, promising to captivate and delight adults and children alike in equal measure.
Each of the Principal Dancers for A Thousand Tales has been hand-picked from amongst the leading ballet companies in Europe, with most hailing from the Compania Nacional de Madrid, Teatro San Carlo Napoli and Teatro dell’Opera Roma. Along with the Corps de Ballet, they collectively represent some of the highest level of talent and skill present within the contemporary ballet world.
Cinderella
Born in Naples, Anna Chiara trained at the dance school of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. In 2006 she joined the company of the Teatro S. Carlo in Naples directed by Elisabetta Terabust and in the same year Alberto Testa decided to award her the Positano Prize as a young emerging talent. In December 2006 she joined the corps de ballet of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan directed by Frederic Olivieri. In 2007 she joined the company of the Teatro dell'opera di Roma directed by Carla Fracci, where she immediately performed soloist and prima ballerina roles including the Russian princess, the two great swans and the pas de trois in Swan Lake, precious stones in Sleeping Beauty, the three odalisques in the ballet Scheherazade, for the ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream Paul Chalmer created for her the role of Venus, later she was cast for the role of the Candy Fairy in the ballet The Nutcracker.
But it is in October 2011 that at the Teatro Dell 'opera is staged the first Bayadere, where Anna Chiara is chosen for the leading role of Nikja . In October 2012 performed the prima ballerina role of the Street Dancer and that of Kitry friends in Don Quixotte by Messerer. Also in 2014 she performed various roles as prima ballerina and soloist in her home theater the Teatro San Carlo in Naples as: Giselle by Lyudmila Semenya. In 2016 she was chosen by Maestro M.Lavrosky for the role of Young Troubadours in the ballet Romeo and Juliet. Recently she dances the role of the Candy Fairy in The Nutcracker by Charles Jude. Other leading roles include: Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland (cor. GIANLUCA Schiavoni), Echos pas de deux in the ballet Pink Floyd Ballet (cor. Roland Petit), Gymnopédies pas de deux (cor. Roland petit). Marina in the ballet Zorba the Greek (cor. L.Massine). Cinderella by G.Picone. Marguerite in the ballet Le damme delle Camelliie by Derek Deane, Hippolyta in the ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream by Paul Chalmer . Queen of the Dryads in Alexei Fadeecev's Don Quixotte, Odette/Odile in the ballet Swan Lake by P.Bart. Theme and Variations by G. Balanchine and Juliet in Romeo & Juliet by K.Macmillan.
She has also appeared in various national and international galas interpreting classical and contemporary repertoire roles such as Diana and Actaeon, Swan Lake, Flame de Paris, Raymonda, the Nutcracker Giselle, Silvia, the corsair, Alonso's Carmen suite, the Dying Swan, Sherazade, Theme and Variations, and Black stone by G.Schiavoni.
White Rabbit
Mario was born in Madrid, Spain. In 2014 he began his studies at the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Mariemma where he trained as a classical dancer, dancing pieces from La Bayadere, The Nutcracker, Other Dance by Jerome Robbins and Abstract by Jean-Christophe Maillot.
He graduated in 2019 and continued his training at the San Francisco Ballet School, where he was selected for their Training Program.
In 2021 he joined the Compañía Nacional de Danza, under the artistic direction of Joaquín De Luz, becoming a part of the company’s corps de ballet.
In September 2022, under the artistic direction of Joaquín De Luz, he is promoted to soloist dancer.
Swan Lake & Aladdin
Alessio Rezza, born in Bari in 1989, is an Italian ballet dancer. After his dance training at La Scala Ballet School in Milan he danced with La Scala Ballet, Maggio Musicale Ballet in Florence and Paris Opera Ballet. In 2010 he joined Rome Opera Ballet where he is promoted to soloist (2015), then Primo Ballerino (2018) and then Étoile (2022) after the performance of Conrad in “Le Corsaire”.
His repertoire includes principal roles in several ballets as Don Quixote, Giselle, The Nutcracker, Coppelia, La Sylphide, Le Corsaire, L’Arlésienne and soloist roles in classical and contemporary ballets from the repertory of the company including the mains international choreographies as Forshyte, Preljocaj, Petit, Kylian, Béjart, Robbins, Limon, Ailey, Bart, Wheeldon, Hilaire, Inger.
Alessio has been awarded the following: Danza & Danza award 2011; Danza in Fiera 2011; Anita Bucchi award 2011; Positano award 2012; Roma è Arte 2013; Europa in danza 2016; Schiaccianoci d’Oro award 2016, 2017.
Swan Lake & Jasmine
After graduating from the Opera School of Dance in Rome (2017) Susanna joined the Corps de Ballet under Carla Fracci, where she danced The Nutcracker (Lormeau), Sleeping Beauty, A Midsummer Night's Dream, La Gitana (Chalmer), Les Biches (Nijinska), Parade (Massine), Swan Lake (Samsova), The Red Poppy (Androsov), Don Quixote (Fayziev), Romeo and Juliet (Gai), Giselle (Fracci).
In 2010 she joined Tulsa Ballet. In 2012 she joined the Maggio Fiorentino with Francesco Ventriglia where she danced La Sylphide (Bournonville), Stabat Mater (Ventriglia), The Four Temperaments (Balanchine) and Steptext with Sylvie Guillem.
Susanna then returned to Rome and under Eleonora Abbagnato where she became prima ballerina ( in 2018 and étoile in 2021. She was the main dancer in Pink Floyd Ballet (Petit), The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude, Artifact Suite and Herman Schmerman (Forsythe), Le Parc (Preljocaj), Serata Nureyev, The Nutcracker (Amodio), The Sleeping Beauty (Bart), Carmina Burana and Aria Tango (Van Hoecke), Raymonda (Nureyev), Giselle (Ruanne), Coppélia and Carmen (Petit), Swan Lake (Wheeldon; Pech), The Concert and In the Night (Robbins), Don Quixote ( Hilaire), Suite en Blanc (Lifar), Petite Mort (Kylián), Manon (MacMillan), Evening Philip Glass (Millepied, Bertaud), La Sylphide (Chalmer), The four seasons (Peparini), Il Corsaro (Martinez), From Afar (Blanc, new creation), Nuit romaine (film and ballet by Preljocaj). Bubeníček creates the role of Carmen on her, Peparini that of Juliet.
In 2016 she was awarded the "Danza & Danza" emerging interpreter 2016. In 2022 she is a guest of Asami Maki Ballet (Notre-Dame de Paris) and in Granada with Slovenian National Ballet (Il Corsaro).
Snow White & Beauty and The Beast, Alice
Born in Fiesole, Italy. She began her studies at the AC Ballet Centre School of Florence and in 2005 she got a scholarship from Pierino Ambrosoli Foundation to continue her studies at the National Conservatory in Paris (2005-2007). In 2009 she graduated at the Royal Ballet Upper School of London (2007-2009).
After her graduation, she entered the Bordeaux National Opera, taking part in Petrouchka, Le sacre du printemps, Les Quatre temperaments, Violin Concerto, Tétris choreography Anthony Egéa, Le Messie of Mauricio Wainrot, Variation and pas de deux Starway to Paradise in Who Cares, Un Américain à Paris/Rhapsody in blue. She also danced in Swan Lake, Coppelia, Casse-noisette and Giselle with choreographies of Charles Jude. Previously, she danced Swan Lake with the Leipzig Ballet in 2007. The following year she danced Nutcracker with the Birmingham Royal Ballet, with teachers including Antoinette Sibley and Anthony Dowell. In 2009 she danced several roles in the classical repertoire with the Royal Ballet Company, taking part in Swan Lake and Firebird.
Throughout her training and professional career she has won several grants and dance contests.
In September 2015 she joined the National Dance Company, directed by José Carlos Martínez. During these period she danced Raymonda, Don Quixote (Kitri, Dulcinea), La Favorita, Nutcracker (Sugar plum), Aurora (variation), In the Night (second pas de deux, Jerome Robbins), Helberg Suite (Toni Fabre), Absolutio (Altea Nuñez), Por vos muero (Nacho Duato), Hicarizatto (Itzik Galili), La Rose Malade (pas de deux, Roland Petit), Artifact (pas de deux, Forsythe), Vertiginous (Forsythe), among others, and various galas around.
In 2019/2020 she was promoted to soloist under the artistic direction of Joaquín De Luz. During these period, she danced Love Fear Loss by Ricardo Amarante; Arriaga by Joaquín De Luz, Pino Alosa and Mar Aguilo; the Dying Swan by Mikhail Fokine; Apollo, principal role, Balanchine; Polyphonia, principal pas de deux, by Cristopher Wheeldon; Grossed fuge by Hans Van Manen; Carmen principal role by Alberto Alonso; Bella Figura by Jiří Kylián
In September 2022, under the artistic direction of Joaquín De Luz, she is promoted to principal dancer.
The Prince of Cinderella
Alessandro graduated in 2011 from the Ballet School of the Teatro di San Carlo. In 2012 he performed with the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma for the production of Romeo and Juliet by Patrice Bart. With the Corps de Ballet of the Teatro di San Carlo, he danced solo and principal roles in productions such as The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, Carmen, Swan Lake, Without Words, Il Pipistrello (czarda soloist), Cantata, Don Quixote, Carmina Burana, Mozart Requiem, Le Corsaire (Conrad).
In 2015 he danced as a principal dancer in The Nutcracker and Giselle. He participates in the 9th Festival Internacional de Ballet of Cali Colombia, and in the same year, he won the "GBoscar della Danza", first prize as best emerging talent assigned by the international Webmagazine "GBopera". In 2016 he danced the role of Frantz, in Roland Petit's Coppélia. Also in 2016 he was chosen by maestro Lavrosky to play one of the main roles in the ballet Romeo and Juliet.
He performed in the shows of "Bolle and Friends" alongside Roberto Bolle. He is invited as a guest principal dancer, at the Opera National de Bordeaux, to interpret the role of Franz, in Charles Jude's Coppelia. In 2017 he performed the role of the Prince, alongside Maria Eichwald in Cinderella. In the same year he played the role of the Fante in Alice in Wonderland (cor. Gianluca Schiavoni ) with Alicia Amatrain. As primo ballerino he then performed, La Rose Malade (cor. Roland Petit) lead roles in the ballet Pink Floyd (chor. Roland Petit ), Zorba the Greek (cor. L.Massine), Damme delle Camellie (Derek Deane), Don Quixote (A.Fadeecev), Swan Lake (R. Nureyev / P. Bart), Theme and Variations (G. Balanchine), Romeo and Juliet (K.MacMillan). He has appeared in numerous international galas, staging passages such as: Diana and Acteon, Swan Lake, Pas d'esclave, le Corsaire, Raymonda, Talisman, Don Quixote, Sherazade and Thais.
Snow White’s Prince & Beauty and the Beast
Born in Crotone (Italy), Alessandro Graduated Cum Laude in the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma school in 2004. During that time he received prestigious Italian prizes as a young promising talent (Danza & Danza, Premio Positano, Spoleto Danza, Danza in Fiera).
After graduation he joins Semperoper (Dresden) under Vladimir Derevianko’s direction where he danced as a soloist and principal dancer in most of the company’s productions. In 2006 he went back to Italy, entering the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Florence) as Principal Guest Dancer until 2013, under Vladimir Derevianko and Francesco Ventriglia’s direction. During that time, he was also invited as Principal Guest in some of the most prestigious Italian Theaters: Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Arena di Verona and Teatro alla Fenice di Venezia. His repertoire goes from the most famous classical ballets, such as Don Quixote, Giselle, la Sylphide, la Fille mal Gardèe, Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, to the most important contemporary choreographies of our time, such as R. Petit, M. Bejart, W. Forsythe, J. Kylian, S. Lynke, J. Neumeier, G. Balanchine, A. Foniadakis, F. Ventriglia, U. Scholz, sharing the stage with partners such as S. Guillem, E. Abbagnato, E. Obrazova, C. Fracci. In 2012 his home town nominate him “Cittadino Illustre” (Honorary Citizen).
In September 2013 he joined Compañia Nacional de Danza as principal dancer under the direction of José Carlos Martínez. Since then he has danced leading roles in In the Middle Somewhat Elevated and Herman Schmerman by William Forsythe, Casi-Casa by Mats Ek, Sonatas, Delibes Suite and Don Quixote Suite (Basilio) by José Carlos Martínez, Allegro Brillante by George Balanchine and Minus 16 by Ohad Naharin.
Currently, Alessandro is Lead Principal dancer under the direction of Joaquín De Luz. During these last years he has also danced The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude, Artifact Suite, In the Figure, Por vos muero, Gods and Dogs, Nutcracker, Apollo, Kübler-Ross, Bella Figura, Giselle, Carmen or Morgen;. He was nominated for the Benois de la Danse award in the category of best dancer for his performance in L’Arlesienne by Roland Petit, who was especially well received by the audience and international critics.
